Connecticut’s Wildlife Action Plan – Input Needed

The Connecticut Audubon Society  invites the public to a talk and slide presentation on Connecticut’s Wildlife Action Plan, to be held on Thursday, November 13, 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Coastal Center at Milford Point, 1 Milford Point Road, Milford, CT.

The speaker is Julie Victoria, a widely known and respected wildlife biologist who worked for the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) for over 32 years, specializing in raptors, shorebirds, invertebrates, reptiles, and amphibians. She participated in the formulation of the 2005 state Wildlife Action Plan.

The DEEP’s Wildlife Division is currently seeking citizen input for its “Species of Greatest Need” list, as part of the strategy to conserve our fish, wildlife, and their habitats over the next ten years. The updated Wildlife Action Plan will include information on climate change, revised mapping, threats to wildlife, and new proposed actions.

Participation by conservation partners, academic institutions, and the public is key to making the revised Wildlife Action Plan an effective tool for conserving Connecticut’s diversity of wild species for future generations.

Fee: $3 suggested donation to cover program expenses. Advance registration is not necessary.
