Nature Center Director

The Connecticut Audubon Society seeks a full-time, senior-level manager for one of the organization’s centers, in western Connecticut. The Center Director is responsible for carrying out or overseeing overall management, programming, maintenance, and communications activities of the Center, as well as for establishing and maintaining relationships with its neighboring communities.

The Center Director will be a highly visible, energetic leader who has a demonstrated passion for people, nature, education, conservation and the environment.

Responsibilities including planning, finance and budgeting; overseeing operations and maintenance of the center’s buildings and land; overseeing staff, programs and the Center’s external communications; and working with senior level staff throughout the Connecticut Audubon Society to carry out the organization’s mission.

Qualifications
BA/BS degree
Outstanding organizational, managerial and communications skills
Experience in educational programming
Willingness and capability to be a public figure
Experience in creating and building partnerships
Ability to lead a team
Physical capability to carry out the responsibilities of the position
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends

Preference Given For:
Knowledge or ornithology and conservation
Graduate degrees
Conservation science/land management skills
Advanced managerial/operational experience
Community organizer with political acumen

This is a full-time, senior level position. Salary commensurate with experience.
