At CAS Center at Fairfield

Enchanted Forest Annual Halloween Event!
For Kids of All Ages & Adults.
Friday, October 27, 5:30-8 p.m.
Guided Walks every 30 minutes!


Put on your costume and join CAS Center at Fairfield for a guided walk “to the dark side.”
We’ll creep through our
Enchanted Forest (aka the 155-acre Larsen Sanctuary) to discover the creatures that are awake at night. This annual Halloween event is a fun and safe way to celebrate the autumn season. After your walk, come inside for games, crafts and refreshments, and to meet the Center at Fairfield’s creepy, crawly critters. Guided walks leave on the half hour starting at 5:30 p.m. Call to reserve space for the walk time of your choice.
Program held rain or moonshine. All proceeds support CAS’s education programs.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Cost: $8/child, $6/adult for CAS members; $12/child, $10/adult for non-members.

Halloween Spook-tacular Owl Prowl
For Kids of All Ages & Adults.
Monday, October 30 at
7:30 p.m.

When the sun retreats, owls awaken with the night to go in search of prey. Some say that owls are what first sparked legends of ghosts. Whatever the truth, this autumn night so close to All Hallows Eve is a fine time to uncover the mysteries of these amazing nocturnal hunters.
Come meet a live local owl and learn about a few of the species that co-exist in our area. Time (and luck) permitting we’ll try to call one in. Please pre-register.

Turkey Talk”

Turkeys are everywhere these days. Do you know why there aren’t any turkeys in our museum’s dioramas? Turkeys are remarkable flyers, terrific talkers, and incredible eating machines. Test out your turkey talents and get the straight talk about turkeys and other birds that spend the winter in Connecticut. Create a Thanksgiving turkey decoration, too!!

Pumpkin Patch Harvest
For Children, Families, Adults.

What can you do with a pumpkin? You can eat it, decorate it and save the seeds for planting next year. Join CAS Center at Fairfield and make your very own pumpkin treats just in time for Thanksgiving. We’ll also visit our “Wigwam” to learn about foods the Native Americans planted and ate.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Advance registration required; space is limited.

Whooo are our resident owls? Have you seen wild turkeys in your back yard?? When is a duck a duck and when is it not? Learn about eagles in Connecticut and where to find them in winter. For 1-3 year olds accompanied by an adult. Dress to go outside; please pre-register.

Cost per session: $10 CAS members; $14 non-members.
Cost for the series (4 days): $30 CAS members; $40 non-members.

“Calling All Owls” Nighttime Prowl

For Children, Families & Adults.

Saturday, November 11, 5 p.m.

 

Join our Sanctuary Manager (and experienced Owl Howler) Andy Rzeznikiewicz as he “calls in” various owls. (During last year’s walk, we saw or heard Barred Owls, Great-horned Owls, Long-eared Owls, and Screech Owls!!).Bring binoculars if you have them.
