Grand Opening: LIVE BUTTERFLY & INSECT ATRIUM
Sunday, May 22, Noon- 4p.m.

Featuring: Lecture by Butterfly/Moth expert John Himmelman from 1pm-2pm and
newly restored butterfly meadow by Oliver Nurseries of Fairfield. Connecticut Audubon Society teacher/naturalists will lead guided naturalist walks, lectures and exhibits featuring insect behavior, habitat and life
history. Other activities include arts & crafts, games and face painting. Lunch can be purchased from Super Duper Weenie.
Admission: $5 members, $6 non-members (children under 2 Free)

General Information
Located in the historic Greenfield Hill section of Fairfield, the Connecticut Audubon Center at Fairfield was constructed in 1971 adjoining the 152-acre Roy and Margot Larsen Wildlife Sanctuary. This nature preserve comprises rolling woodlands, meadows, streams, marshes and ponds with raised boardwalks and bridges that allow access to the varied habitats. The Center provides an indoor setting for interpretation of the sanctuary and is the hub of youth and adult environmental education programs and activities throughout the year.  

Focus:  To promote awareness of Connecticut's terrestrial and freshwater wetland ecosystems and foster their preservation through education and related activities.
