Art, Nature, Play, and Destressing

September 25, 2016

Longtime environmental educator and therapist, Jorie Hunken, will present this series on nature play and the art of destressing. We come to understand the workings of nature by playing with its aspects. And in the process, we find peace and pleasure. When approached in personal, creative ways, the true things in nature are therapeutic, easing stress and worry. In this 3-part series, we will be learning how nature solves problems, how to recognize that creativity everywhere, and learn specific techniques that let us loosen the hold of our darker concerns. You’ll learn what therapeutic techniques work for you and why. Based on a lifetime of teaching art and natural history, amplified by 15 years of using trauma-informed teaching practices, these lessons in simple arts and puzzles will give you a break from the world by bringing you closer to real life. Please register to assure your space and help us plan for materials.$10 per session for CAS members; $20 per session non-members.
