Migration Madness: Bird Banding Demonstration

SATURDAY’S BIRD BANDING IS CANCELLED BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER BUT SUNDAY’S IS STILL ON!

Sunday, May 20
8 a.m.

Master banders Judy Richardson and Kathy Van Der Aue, and their team, will show you how bird banding works. Get an up-close view as the team searches the sanctuary for migrants, gently catches them, records their measurements and safely releases them. (Visitors may get to release a bird, too.) Birdcraft is one of the longest-running licensed banding stations in the Northeast.

This is a Migration Madness event. Migration Madness is the Connecticut Audubon Society’s statewide celebration of the birds of Connecticut. This event is great for Bird-a-thon participants! Learn more here.

Weather permitting. Admission is free. Donations to support the Connecticut Audubon Society are welcome. Pre-registration is required as each session is limited to 20 participants.
