Charity Navigator Awards the Connecticut Audubon Society its Highest Rating — 4 Stars!

June 26, 2018 – The Connecticut Audubon Society is pleased to announce that it recently earned the highest rating from Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest evaluator of charities, for its strong financial health and for conserving Connecticut’s environment in a financially efficient way.

“This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets Connecticut Audubon Society apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness,” Charity Navigator’s President and CEO Michael Thatcher said in a letter.

The 4-star rating puts Connecticut Audubon in the upper echelon of all charities in the United States. Only two other environmental organizations in Connecticut have earned four stars.

Charity Navigator provides the rating specifically to give donors the information and the confidence they need to guide their charitable giving.

“We’ve been working hard to improve in all areas and it is gratifying that an organization as respected as Charity Navigator recognizes this,” said Patrick Comins, Connecticut Audubon’s executive director. “We want our donors to know that we take our responsibility seriously and that their trust in us is paramount.”

In his letter to Connecticut Audubon, Thatcher wrote: “On behalf of Charity Navigator, I wish to congratulate Connecticut Audubon Society on attaining the coveted 4-star rating for demonstrating strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency.

“We are proud to announce that your organization has earned a 4-star rating. This is our highest possible rating and indicates that your organization adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way.

“Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that Connecticut Audubon Society exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in your area of work. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets Connecticut Audubon Society apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness. Approximately only a quarter of rated charities have achieved this distinction!”
