Conserving Birds in an Increasingly Human-Dominated Landscape

Wednesday, July 29*
9 a.m.
*Rain date: Sunday, August 2

Engage in a compelling discussion of the challenges and opportunities confronting conservation efforts for birds in an increasingly human-modified environment during this morning walk around the Coastal Center. Topics will range from urban and suburban planning to climate change. Specific examples will be used from things that can be directly observed at the Center to illustrate these topics and facilitate this informal dialogue.

Dr. George Amato, Director Emeritus at the American Museum of Natural History and Coastal Center board member, will lead this program and has a 31 year background in international conservation research. He has become a priceless resource for the Center on issues pertaining to conservation and conservation education. (More information on Dr. Amato here.)

Participants are required to wear masks and practice social distancing (mask removal at the discretion of the program leader). The entire program is outdoors, so please bring water, a sun hat and apply sunblock and bug spray before arriving. Note: Center building and facilities (including restrooms) are closed, however, there are portable toilets available (please bring hand sanitizer).

This program is for adults only. Group is limited to 10 participants. Please bring binoculars. Members $10, Non-members $15. Rain date is Sunday, August 2. Pre-registration required. Click here to register. Once registered, participants will need to complete a waiver. This program is at the Coastal Center, 1 Milford Point Road, Milford, CT.
