Bring your I Spy eyes and search our Pollinator Garden and the Coastal Center’s grounds for monarch butterflies and caterpillars.  Discover the amazing life cycle of the monarch and learn about the Monarch Watch citizen science project that tags and tracks monarch butterflies.

We will make our own paper butterflies and “tag” them as we learn how and why scientists tag butterflies. If we find monarch butterflies our educator will demonstrate tagging a monarch. Finding, netting, and tagging live monarchs cannot be guaranteed.

Participants are required to wear masks and practice social distancing. The entire program is outdoors, we will be walking over uneven surfaces, please no strollers. We strongly recommend that you bring water, a sun hat and apply sunblock and bug spray before arriving. Participants will be notified if program is rescheduled to rain date.
Note: Center building and facilities (including restrooms) are closed, however, there is a portable toilet available (please bring hand sanitizer).

This program is for families. Group is limited to ten participants. This is not a drop-off program. Members $10/person, Non-members $15/person. You will be contacted if program is rescheduled or postponed due to adverse weather, please note raindates. Pre-registration required. Click below to register. Once registered, participants will need to complete and return a waiver. This program is at the Coastal Center, 1 Milford Point Road, Milford, CT.
