Nature & Birding 101 Walks

Saturday, December 12 — SOLD OUT
9:30 – 11 a.m.

Seasonal changes abound at the Coastal Center.  Join teacher-naturalist Carol Kratzman for a small group guided walk exploring what’s happening on Milford Point through the fall. We’ll visit the marsh and meander our way through the woodland before heading to the shoreline of Long Island Sound. Along the way we’ll talk about the plants, birds, and wildlife of the area, including the many ways plants and animals are connected.  Get tips on basic bird and plant identification and binocular use. We will be standing and walking, often over uneven surfaces. Benches are available for seating at the garden and the Long Island Sound observation platform.

Participants are required to wear masks and practice physical distancing. The program is 100% outdoors. Please dress warmly in appropriate outdoor gear plus hat and gloves, and sturdy, closed-toe footwear. These programs may be cancelled or postponed due to adverse weather.

Note: Center building and facilities (including restrooms) are closed, however, there is a portable toilet available, please bring hand sanitizer.

This program is designed for beginners. Group is limited to 8 participants. Please bring binoculars if you have them.

Members $15, Non-members $20. Pre-registration required.

A waiver must be completed and returned before the program date.

This program is at the Coastal Center, 1 Milford Point Road, Milford, CT.
