OPENING Reception and Reading
Sunday, January 21, 2 – 4 p.m.
Exhibit through February 25
Each year the Summer Writer and Artist In-Residence Program at our Trail Wood Sanctuary in Hampton produces inspirational work. This year’s class is no exception. The beauty found in their paintings, photography and written word well reflect the tranquility of Trail Wood. A great boost in the dead of winter, come celebrate this year’s artists and writers and the Trail Wood experience. Free admission – donations always appreciated.
Join Connecticut Audubon Society volunteers for fresh air, exercise, good company and naturalist lessons along the way. Seniors and parents with babes in backpacks welcome. Free to CAS members; $3 non-members.
Wednesday, February 7, 14, 21
Thursday, February 8, 15, 22
1:30 – 2: 30 p.m.
Get outside without going outside! Come to the Coastal Center and participate in the citizen science program Project FeederWatch. Learn about birds as we identify, count, and record the birds at our feeders.
No need to go outside, we have a perfect view of the feeders through the center’s large observation windows. Our staff and volunteers will assist you with bird identification and the counting process. Bring your favorite binoculars and bird identification book or use our supplies.
Project FeederWatch studies the distribution and populations of winter bird species throughout the country. Our bird count data will be reported to Project FeederWatch and contributes to scientific studies at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
All skill levels are welcome for this free program.
