Learn about birds, migration and more as Elissa Johnson, science teacher and librarian reads Flute’s Journey: The Life of a Wood Thrush written and illustrated by Lynne Cherry. A short walk through our new bird and pollinator garden and around two nearby ponds will follow .

Dress for the weather. Inclement weather cancels.  Bring water bottle, walking stick, binoculars, camera and a sense of adventure.

Birding Basics with Jim Arrigoni at Deer Pond Farm

The world of bird watching can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be! This gentle introduction assumes nothing, except that you are curious to learn more about enjoying these wondrous creatures. We will cover use of binoculars and the variety of clues that help to identify different kinds of birds. Bring (or borrow from us) binoculars and all the questions you have about bird watching but were afraid to ask.

Dress for the weather. Inclement weather cancels.  Bring water bottle, walking stick, binoculars, camera and a sense of adventure.

Nature Hike with Jim Arrigoni at Deer Pond Farm

Join Jim Arrigoni, conservation biologist, on a hike through the varied habitats of Deer Pond Farm. The focus will be on covering many trails (approximately 3 miles) at a good pace, although we will stop at points of natural history interest along the way. The route will be moderately strenuous with several hundred feet elevation changes.

Dress for the weather. Inclement weather cancels.  Bring water bottle, walking stick, binoculars, camera and a sense of adventure.

Fall Foliage Bird Walks with Miley Bull

Join us for these guided walks to enjoy the changing foliage, as well as migrating and resident birds. We’ll explore the diverse habitats which support a variety of birds that Miley Bull, senior director of science and conservation will help identify by sight and sound. All levels of birders are welcome. Binoculars and walking sticks available to borrow.
