    Owl Prowl at the Arboretum

    February 6, 2024

When most of us are heading to bed, many owl species are just starting their day. These incredible birds have unique adaptations for hunting at night, and are loved and admired by birders and non-birders alike. Late winter is one of the best times to see and hear these birds, as they start defending territory and finding mates. Join CT Audubon Society’s Joe Attwater as we search the Connecticut College Arboretum for these mysterious birds.

Winter Tree ID Walk at Deer Pond Farm

    February 7, 2024

    No Fee
Even without leaves, trees offer many clues about their identity: bark color and texture, overall form, habitat, and twig characteristics. Join Connecticut Audubon Society Master Naturalists John Ehrenreich, author of Native Trees of Connecticut, and Diane Nizlek for the winter edition of Deer Pond Farm’s seasonal Tree ID Program. This program will begin indoors, where identification basics will be reviewed before hitting the trails for a walk to put our new ID skills to work. If you wish, bring a bagged lunch and join us inside after the walk. Snow/weather date February 15.
