Volunteer to monitor an Osprey nest!

If Connecticut’s Ospreys fascinate you, volunteer to monitor an Osprey nest for Osprey Nation. There are 900-plus nests in the state, and as of April 20, Osprey Nation still needs people to keep an eye on about 200.

The time commitment is only a couple of hours per month.  It is a fascinating and fulfilling way to help the state’s birds.

For information on how to volunteer and what it entails, email Scott Kruitbosch, Connecticut Audubon’s Osprey Nation coordinator: osprey@ctaudubon.org.

You can also learn more by checking out the Osprey Nation nest map.

Osprey Cam at Milford Point

Osprey have returned to Milford Point for 2024, and are beginning to work on their nest. The male arrived on March 20, the female on March 27.

At this point in the season, they come and go, so you might not always seem them on the Osprey Cam. But be patient and check back often.

If the live feed goes off or freezes on your screen, try refreshing your browser. Also note that wind can interrupt the connection, so viewing on windy days—and there are a lot of those in the middle of the marsh—might be a challenge
.
Enjoy!
