Winter Solstice Bird Walk

Thursday, December 21
2 p.m. (1.5 – 2.5 hours)
1.5-2.5 miles along mildly hilly trails
Although we celebrate the increasing daylight, winter remains. What happens to the birds that stay in our cold climate? How does day length or light affect them? Did you know that chickadees shiver to stay warm?
Find out more about our winter birds and their habitats with a guided walk at Deer Pond Farm with Milan Bull, Connecticut Audubon’s senior director of science and conservation, on the shortest day of the year! Bring a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate to enjoy while we listen and watch for our year round and winter visiting birds.
Dress for the weather. Inclement weather cancels. Bring binoculars, camera and a sense of adventure.
