More information about Flora & Fauna Project LimulusProject LimulusJune 4, 2024 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm The Roger Tory Peterson Estuary CenterThe Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center Old Lyme, CT 06371 Project Limulus is a regional program that is organized by Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. The objective of this program is to better understand the distribution, movement, longevity, and mortality of horseshoe crabs in Long Island Sound. Horseshoe crabs are a near threatened species and overharvesting has led to a dramatic decline in Long Island Sound. Participants will attend a training session held at the center to discuss the biology of horseshoe crabs, as well as the protocol for counting and tagging at the beach.
