Come enjoy and embrace the natural world with Deirdra Wallin, program coordinator and Elizabeth O’Connor, local environmental educator as we walk and experience the wonders of winter. Fun facts on bird senses will also be shared. Allow for an average of two hours and 1.5 -2 miles. Dress for the weather. Think head, hands and feet! Wool hats, gloves and socks are really good choices. Bring water bottle, walking stick, binoculars, camera and a sense of adventure. Inclement weather cancels. The tourists may have left, but the birds remain. Focus on winter specialties and the occasional pelagic bird. The group will travel by ferry from Point Judith and spend the day visiting the island's birding hotspots and various habitats. We are looking for adults who want to become trained wildlife trackers to monitor study sites in Willington, Canterbury and Woodstock. Learn to find and recognize tracks and to document sightings that support local conservation efforts.
