    With access to over 1,650 acres of land, we will seek out a variety of bird species. Wear drab colored clothing and bring binoculars. (On some occasions a spotting scope is useful.) Fee: Free to CAS members; $5 non-members.

    Explore a new preserve near the RI border and some nearby state forest land. Forest interior birds should be found on the new preserve and nearby wetlands should provide some exciting finds! We will carpool from the Center. Fee: $7 CAS members; $12 non-members.

    Join Miley Bull, senior director of science and conservation for the Connecticut Audubon Society, during the peak of spring bird migration!

    With over 835 acres of diverse habitats supporting over 100 species of birds, Deer Pond Farm is perfect for looking and listening for a wide variety of birds, while collecting data for the Connecticut Bird Atlas project. Each walk has a different theme and though we cannot guarantee you’ll see the themed bird during the walk, we will provide information on the species and show their preferred habitat as well as nesting boxes we have installed . All levels of birders are welcome.

    1 - 2 p.m.

    On our Sanctuary walk we’ll discover ponds, a garden marsh, temperate deciduous forest, meadow, and swamp, while observing bird habitats. We’ll see  ecological points of interest and discuss efforts to protect them. Terrain is easy to moderate. 10% off all purchases in the Nature Store! This is a free event. Pre-registration required.
