All hikes are 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and subject to change due to weather. Full training is six hikes; participants select hikes that suit their schedule throughout the year. Registration is required. Training fee per hike: $50 CAS members/$60 non-members.

Nature Sketchbook Journaling

You’ll spend time outdoors sketching and painting from nature, using pencil, pen and watercolor.  Learn new skills or develop ones you already have. Roxanne Steed will show you how to simplify what you see and teach basic drawing and quick intuitive watercolor techniques. Enhance your creativity, observe nature, record the day and enjoy the meditative qualities of sketching outdoors.*  Cost per day: 

$10 CAS members; $20 non-members.

*Materials you’ll need to bring:

Trail Wood Owl Walk

Join Andy Rzeznikiewicz as he takes you around searching for wintering owls.  Meet at the Trail Wood parking lot.  We will attempt to find screech, barred, and great-horned owls. In some years saw-whet and long-eared owls are possible to find.  We do most of the calling from the road.  Program is cancelled due to bad weather.  (rain, snow, high winds).  Cost $5 members/ $10 non-members.

March 4 – Woodstock training/monitoring hike Willington/Canterbury to be added.

All hikes are 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and subject to change due to weather. Full training is six hikes; participants select hikes that suit their schedule throughout the year. Registration is required. Training fee per hike: $50 CAS members/$60 non-members.
