218 Day Road
PO Box 11
Pomfret Center , CT 06259

Can you walk on water?  Fly in the wind?  Protect yourself from danger?  Build a shelter?  Hide using camouflage?  Communicate in code?  Transfer the sun's energy?  Using a STEM approach, we will uncover nature's inventions and try to mimic them in order to solve human problems.  Working in teams and integrating clever engineering, we will invent useful devices with nature as inspiration. $245/ week CAS members; $300/ week to add membership.  Register at ctaudubon.org/pomfret-camp.

Learn how to use eBird, the digital platform for documenting bird sightings.

eBird has been described as the tool that has “changed birding forever,” and now you will be able to participate in building this exciting crowd-sourced database. We will begin by discussing best
practices for using the eBird app, and then practice inputting sightings as we explore the property together. Please come with the eBird app downloaded onto your smartphone, or a notebook and pencil for recording your observations.

Birds & More Ecology Walk with Jim Arrigoni

August 21, 2021 9:00 am - 11:00 am Deer Pond Farm
57 Wakeman Hill Road
Sherman, CT 06784
USA
(860) 799-4074

Although the birds with their new family members are quite a bit more discrete than during the spring breeding period, there is still a lot of wildlife activity to observe in the forests, ponds, and meadows of Deer Pond Farm!  A lot is happening this time of year as many critters are taking full advantage of the abundance of food sources, whether it be nectar, seeds, fruits, or even other animals.

Join conservation biologist Jim Arrigoni on a gentle ~1.5-mile trail walk.  Along the way, we’ll pause to identify birds and other wildlife and trees and other plants, and learn about how they make their livings and how they are all interconnected.

Saturday, August 21, 9 a.m. with Jim Arrigoni
