Bugs and birds need your help! Come to The Connecticut Audubon Society’s 2nd Annual Pollinator Palooza and to learn about the decline of pollinators, why their health is critical to our food and ecosystems, and what you can do to make a difference.
We may not always notice the hummingbirds, bats, bees, beetles and butterflies that carry pollen from one plant to another while collecting nectar. These hard-working animals help pollinate over 75% of our flowering plants, and nearly 75% of our crops.
Without pollinators, wildlife would have fewer nutritious berries and seeds, and we would miss many fruits, vegetables and nuts like blueberries, squash and almonds… not to mention chocolate and coffee!
At this free, family-friendly event, learn how your own yard can be improved for birds, pollinators and other wildlife. Hear animal and plant experts talk about the biology and habitat needs of pollinators. Visit with local gardening and environmental experts supporting this event including: Beardsley Zoo, the Milford Garden Club, Milford Environmental Protection Initiative, CT Sea Grant, CAES, USDA and local beekeeper Ralph Harrison and UCONN Master Composters. There is something for everyone including live displays, kid crafts, and free pollinator seed packets, handouts, posters and more.
