Sunday, Oct. 2 from 2 - 3 p.m.
Winter is coming! Opossums are unique and gentle creatures, but they are not native to the New England states. Many do not survive Connecticut winters, suffering debilitating frostbite and starvation. Learn from Pam and Bill Lefferts, operators of Ferncroft Wildlife Rescue in Woodstock, what you can do to help opossums and other backyard wildlife survive the cold weather months. You also will learn how to prepare an emergency roadside rescue kit, turn your property into a sanctuary for wildlife, and become a wildlife volunteer. At the end of the program, meet Ferncroft’s educational ambassadors (non-releasable opossums) and take a photo with them. Registration recommended by calling 860-928-4948. Fee: $5 CAS members; $10 non-members.
