Trails Day Habitat Highlights Hike

Cathy Hagadorn, director at Deer Pond Farm will lead this hike, stopping to highlight several of our habitat enhancement areas. This will include the Bird & Pollinator Garden, the Fall Migration Rest Stop and the Cathedral Trail Bird Ecotone. Plantings, nest box program and invasive species management will be discussed.

Trails Day is a two-day national event. For more information on CT Trails Day, please click here. Registration, masks and social distancing are required.
NO FEE for participation. 15 person maximum (includes leader)

Nipmuck Forest Bird Walk

Explore this large forest interior block in Northwest Woodstock.  Most likely we will find nesting Brown Creepers, Winter Wrens, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Pine Warblers and Black-throated Green Warblers.  Limit 7 people.  Pre-register with walk leader, Andy Rzeznikiewicz, arzzikiewicz@ctaudubon.org.  Fee $20 CAS members, $30 non -members.  Masks must be worn at all times.  Carpooling permitted with proof of Covid vaccinations.

Join us for a story about a simple way we can all add to our natural world.  Your child will hear a story about a woman who beautifies her town by spreading flower seeds. The children will be given their own supply of seeds take home to spread. Story appropriate for children in grades 1 to 3, and for experienced younger listeners. Afterwards, join us for a short scavenger hunt around Deer Pond Farm.
