    Meet “Skywalker” the Golden Eagle, the newest addition to the Horizon Wings Raptor Rehabilitation & Education Center. Skywalker has been reunited with his friend Chrysos, a female Golden Eagle and joined by Atka the Bald Eagle.  Come and see these magnificent birds of prey at the Center at Pomfret.  For more information on these eagles and other birds of prey, visit www.horizonwings.org.  Suggested donation: $10 per person.

    It’s Back!

    Center volunteer and mom of three, Melissa Telford will entertain your toddlers with stories, activities and winter fun along our trails. Wear clothes and boots appropriate for the cold weather. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost per child per day: $5 CAS members; $7 non-members. Cost for entire series: $35 CAS members; $45 non-members.

    Do your kids need to blow off steam after school?  Send them to Trail Wood.  After a quick snack, we will head out on the trails to explore and search for animal tracks and sign.  The afternoons will be filled with fresh air, exercise and fun.  Wildlife lessons will be quietly inserted along the way.  We will be outside, so warm winter clothing and boots are a must.     March 4 – Woodstock training/monitoring hike Willington/Canterbury to be added.

    All hikes are 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and subject to change due to weather. Full training is six hikes; participants select hikes that suit their schedule throughout the year. Registration is required. Training fee per hike: $50 CAS members/$60 non-members.

     You’ll spend time outdoors at Trail Wood, sketching and painting from nature, using pencil, pen and watercolor.  Learn new skills or develop ones you already have. Roxanne Steed will show you how to simplify what you see, and teach basic drawing and quick intuitive watercolor techniques.
