    It’s the time of the year we celebrate Halloween and things that go bump in the night. Through games and hands-on activities discover how nocturnal animals use their senses of smell and hearing to navigate through the night. Create your own special creature of the night. Appropriate families with children age 5 and up.

    Members $5/person, family max. $20; non-members: $7/person, family max. $28.

    Ages 2-3 with a participating adult

    What do all the animals do in the fall? How do they prepare for winter? Where do the leaves go? Each week we will discover the answers to these         questions. Come join us as we discover fun facts, create cool crafts and meet exciting animals. Please wear appropriate indoor/outdoor attire. Seven-week series: members $72, non-members $96. Single class: members $12/class, non-members $16/class.

    Transition to Winter Birding Walk with Miley Bull. Join us at Deer Pond Farm as we wind down the fall migration season.  With a clearer view through the trees, we be able to see and hear some late migrants and the young of the year who winter over here.  Learn how to prepare for and enjoy winter birding in your backyard and beyond. November 2 8:00 AM (2-3 hours) 1.5-2.5 miles mildly hilly trails

    Dress for the weather. Rain cancels.

    Bring binoculars, camera and a sense of adventure.

    Join the Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center for a peaceful, family-friendly hike through Watch Rock in Old Lyme. Learn how to spot the signs of nature preparing for winter as you discuss migration, hibernation, and everything in between.

    This exciting program should be a memorable experience.  Bring your camera.  Last year was a great year with many owls caught and banded. We hope for similar success this year. Will reschedule if inclement weather. (If you can’t make these dates, call and leave your name and number. We may schedule an additional banding date.) Register early at 860-928-4948.
