    A close friend of Edwin and Nellie Teale, author Alison Davis will lead an easy writing workshop.  Alison considers herself a naturalist of the heart and an expert on the joy of the moment. Sitting in silence outdoors, the group will use all their senses and their sense of wonder to feel the amazing natural life at Trail Wood. Taking notes and sharing will lead into writing about their experience.  Alison has led many workshops and retreats on nature and is the author of Hampton Remembers, A Sense of Wonder, Beloved Companions. Bring notebook and pencil.  Fee: $10 members; $20 nonmembers. Pre-registration is required. Limit 12.

  • Connecticut Open House

    Connecticut Open House


    June 14, 2014

    During this one-day event, the Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Fairfield, along with over 200 other organizations and attractions throughout the state, will open its doors and offer special incentives (discounts, free admission, special offers, etc.) to visitors.

    In addition to free admission, Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Fairfield will feature:

    • Animal Ambassador meet and greet -- Noon
    • Free children’s nature crafts
    • 10% discount in the Nature Store

    To qualify for an Open House Day special, at least one person in each visiting group must show a valid Connecticut driver’s license.

    Crafting Your Nature Journal

    10-12 p.m.

    Have you ever wanted to make your own journal? In this two-hour workshop, participants will explore simple techniques in bookbinding, collage, leaf rubbings, plant pressings, prints, and other decorative arts. Materials used to make a nature journal will include human-made items as well as nature-made objects found on the trails in the beautiful Larsen Sanctuary at Connecticut Audubon Society’s Center at Fairfield. For ages 13 - Adult.

     

    The fee is $6 for Members and $8 for Nonmembers. There will be an additional material fee. To register please call 203-259-6305 ext. 109.
