Join Connecticut Audubon’s Teacher/Naturalist Carol Kratzman and learn more about Connecticut’s woodpeckers: the unique super-powers (adaptations) of woodpeckers, their role in our backyard ecosystem, how to identify the various species using field marks, as well as tips for attracting them to your feeders, and the challenges of discouraging woodpeckers from pecking on your house. This program is geared towards adult beginning birders but all levels are welcome.
While we are offering this webinar free of charge, please consider a suggested donation of $10.

From hypoxia to sea level rise to watershed health, the report is a thorough summary of the key factors affecting Long Island Sound, an estuary of National Importance. Summaries of all of the Report’s articles are a part of the presentation, including articles by Patrick Lynch, Jenny Dickson, Mark Tedesco, Judy Benson, David Winkler, and others.

Carpool to the Long Pond Preserve in Thompson just south of Webster Lake. This property contains early successional habitat, mature conifer forest, a secluded 20 acre lake, and acres of submerged shrublands. We will likely find migrants and nesting species such as Prairie Warblers, Scarlet Tanagers, Indigo Bunting, Field Sparrows, and Yellow Warblers. Meet at the Center to form the carpool. 15th annual 90 Day bird event. Come help us reach our goal of hearing or spotting at least 90 species of birds in ten hours or less. We will be visiting many locations within a 10 mile radius.
