Walking the Cedar Island and Meg’s Point trails we will search for both land and water birds in a variety of habitats including sandy beach, rocky shore, salt marsh and woods. With spring migration underway are likely to record an excellent species list and are likely to encounter a few that are uncommon or rare in Connecticut.

Zoom presentation by Will McClean Greeley, great-great nephew of U.S. Senator George P. McLean of Connecticut and sponsor of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918, the country's most important bird law.
Greeley is the author of the recent biography, A Connecticut Yankee Goes to Washington: Senator George P. McLean, Birdman of the Senate.
The Zoom presentation is set for 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 16.
It is the opening of our annual Migration Madness celebration of Connecticut’s birds, and part of our 125th anniversary celebration.
The presentation is free for people who sign up for or make a contribution to this year’s Migration Madness Birdathon, which is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21.
$5 for all others.

Angela Dimmitt, local birding expert and president of the Western CT Bird Club (WCBC) will be leading a bird walk at Deer Pond Farm in support of CT Audubon Society’s Migration Madness – Birdathon. This is peak migration time for many beautiful warblers and a great opportunity to add to your bird list. This two hour (+) guided bird walk will take participants to various habitats to see as many birds as possible here. Come join in the fun in support of a great environmental conservation cause!

Native birds need native plants, and they find plenty of them at the Connecticut College Arboretum! The diverse habitats of the arboretum attract a wide variety of bird species. In the forests, we will search for Scarlet Tanagers, Veerys, and numerous warblers. We’ll watch swallows feed on insects over the pond, and hummingbirds feeding on the many native flower species.
