Connecticut Audbon Society

February Vacation Outdoor Winter Adventures Camp

A different theme each day and the kids will go home enthused about nature and a tad on the weary side !

Bald Eagle Quest

Tuesday, February 22, 9:00-4:00

We’ll head to the mouth of the Connecticut River in search of our national bird, the bald eagle. This area has the highest concentration of eagles on the east coast. We will scout out various roosts and observe these magnificent birds feeding. Outdoor activities, games, and stories along the way.

Who’s Been in the Snow?

Wednesday, February 23, 9:00-4:00

We will view sanctuary manager, Andy Rzez’s wildlife video of bobcat, coyote, fisher and other animals, and learn their behaviors, tracks and sign. We will then head out onto the sanctuary in search of animal tracks and sign as well as good sledding terrain. Hot chocolate and marshmallows to follow!

Man vs. Wild! How Do They Do It?

Thursday, February 24, 9:00-4:00

Learn how different animals adapt to the cold and snow. As we hike the sanctuary, we will try out animal survival skills to understand how they stay warm and protected from the elements, find water, search and store food. We will build shelters, make snowshoes and of course have fun in the snow. Wildlife loves to play too!

Participants need to bring a lunch and drink and MUST come dressed in clothes appropriate for outdoor winter activities.
