Summer 2015 Interns
Breeding Bird Analyst. The intern will become familiar with and analyze the data on breeding birds within the state, and prepare a report. Good candidates will be familiar with birds, skilled in data handling, analysis, data software, and report preparation. Mostly an office position, though some field on other projects would be likely. Position based in Fairfield.
Sanctuary Maintenance. Two positions. Interns will be tasked to visiting the organization’s sanctuaries spread across the state to inspect them, undertake cursory maintenance, and install elements such as signs, trail markers, picnic tables, fence posts and gates. Skill and experience with site planning, trail maintenance, and tool use (including chain saws, carpentry tools), are essential. Position(s) location is flexible, car needed.
Volunteer Organizer/Data Analyst. As a leader in our Osprey Nation project, the intern will be responsible for a) recruiting, and organizing more than one hundred volunteers, b) inputting and analyzing the data as provided by the volunteers, and c) preparing a final report. Some field work may also be anticipated related to Osprey nesting sites. Position based in Fairfield.
Archivist/Historian. Since 1898 the Connecticut Audubon Society has been the leading conservation organization in the state. We are seeking an intern with an interest in history, archiving, and librarian skills to help modernize our archiving system. Intern will work with a consulting archivist and a museum curator. Position based in Fairfield.
Positions available from May 15 – August 30. Scheduling flexible. Stipends commensurate with position and experience. Housing may be available.
