Winter Ecology Walks with Jim Arrigoni – CANCELLED

Great Horned Owl by Brian Bennett
Friday, February 1 CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER AND TRAIL CONDITIONS
3 p.m.
The days are noticeably longer in February, but winter is far from over. This month can be especially variable in Connecticut, with warm days hinting at spring’s arrival, or blizzards that keep the groundhog in deep slumber. Using examples encountered on our walk on the trails, we’ll discuss the implications of late-winter weather on species as variable as Sugar Maples to Spotted Salamanders . Join conservation biologist Jim Arrigoni and our volunteer Connecticut Audubon Master Naturalists on this gentle 1.5-mile walk around the trails.
Allow for an average of two hours and 1.5 -2 miles. Dress for the weather. Think head, hands and feet! Wool hats, gloves and socks are really good choices. Bring water bottle, walking stick, binoculars, camera and a sense of adventure. Inclement weather cancels.
