Striped Bass Fishing on the Housatonic—A Walk and Talk

1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Join Paul Dinice, fly fisherman extraordinaire, for an informative afternoon of fishing talk. Paul will share his love and knowledge of fishing along the Housatonic River. Learn about river access points, and the ins and outs of fishing gear, flies, bait, and fish imitations, lures, and bit about spin casting  He will also hand out a limited number of “A Guide to Stripers in the Housatonic.” Tables will be set up to display gear and types of flies.

Paul began spin fishing and fly fishing at a very early age and has been exclusively fly fishing since 1980. Paul’s “home” club/organization is the Housatonic Fly Fisherman’s Association and for the past 35 years he has written “Fly of the Month” column for the HFFA newsletter and website. His “closer crab” pattern appeared in the 2012 Winter edition Fly Tyer Magazine.  Paul has organized numerous small fly fishing expo’s here in Connecticut. 

The entire presentation will take place outside, including a short walk to the shoreside viewing deck to point out fishing locations. Spaced seating will be available. Participants are required to wear masks and practice physical distancing. Please bring water, a sun hat and apply sunblock and bug spray before arriving. Note: Center building and facilities (including restrooms) are closed, however, there is a portable toilet available (please bring hand sanitizer).

This program is for adults only. Group is limited to 10 participants.
Members $10, Non-members $15. Pre-registration required.
These walks may be cancelled due to adverse weather. Program participants will be notified in the event of any weather related program changes.

Online waivers for each participant must be completed and returned to the Coastal Center before arrival.
