Young, Gifted, and Wild About Birds with Dr. Desiree Narango

Join Dr. Desiree Narango as she closes out the Young, Gifted, and Wild About Birds series with a presentation for people who want to see nature thrive in their yards, towns, and cities.

Dr. Narango is the David H. Smith Conservation Research Fellow Postdoctoral Researcher at UMass Amherst.

In March 2021, she was named an Early Career Fellow of the Ecological Society of America:

“Elected for pioneering research on the connections between native plants, insects and birds in human-dominated urban and agricultural ecosystems; for excellence in communicating ecological concepts and the importance of native plants to the urban public; and for promoting diversity and inclusion in ecology.”

She’ll talk about:

  • wildlife diversity in cities across the United States
  • how plants and animals interact
  • the birds and insects we share our parks and yards with
  • how management decisions in urban green spaces impact conservation success in New England and beyond.

She will also tell you how to find information about nature-based gardening and participating in community-driven science.
