Part-time Accountant

The Accountant is a part time position (20 hours per week) responsible for managing the accounts payables and revenue reconciliation of a medium sized statewide nonprofit. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance.   The Accountant shares our organization’s value in and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our boards, staff, and program participants.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Process and review payables on a daily basis, allocating to the appropriate cost center and project codes as needed. This includes handling the weekly check run in the office. 
  • Review and process monthly employee expense reports
  • Record all credit card transactions and collect all receipts for about 10 employees on a monthly basis.
  • Record all cash receipts received from all centers, ACH’s for grant funding or Summer Camp payments, as well as all credit card payments for donations, membership dues, programs, events, etc. that are received throughout the month.
  • Monitor cash in various accounts and prepare sweeps as needed
  • Reconcile and prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all cash accounts
  • Prepare month end close schedules and reconciliations for LT & ST Pledges, Program and Other Receivables, & Fixed Assets.
  • Prepare/maintain some detailed reports for CIP projects.
  • Analyze costs for one of our entities and allocate costs as needed.
  • Prepare sales and use tax analysis and make monthly tax payment.
  • Set up vendors, collect W9s throughout the year and prepare the 1099 at year end.
  • Help prepare schedules and pull documents for year end audit.
  • Ensures timely month end closing of payables and revenue reconciliation to assist the Director of Finance in preparing monthly financial statements.
  • Work with development team to ensure appropriate tracking and reporting of donations, grants and other revenue sources.

 

Requirements:

  • BA/BS Degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.
  • Strong background and knowledge of accounting, finance, human resources, insurance.
  • 5-7 years non-profit based accounting, budgeting, financial management
  • Outstanding organizational, managerial, and communication skills
  • Strong computer aptitude, experience and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Financial Edge experience a plus

 

Salary Range: $40/hour
