June 25, 2025 — We are happy to announce that the 2025 Migration Magic bird celebration was an amazing success!

Approximately 1,150 of you helped the cause of bird conservation in Connecticut by participating — birding, donating, and attending walks and programs throughout the state. You contributed $42,388 for bird conservation in Connecticut. That’s 33% more than last year!

Whichever way you decided to participate, thank you sincerely, and we hope it was fun! Full details, including information about prizes, are at these link

Prize Details
Participants in the Migration Magic Birdathon will have several chances to win prizes, which we will be announcing shortly.

Once again the grand prize winner will be chosen in a random drawing. To be eligible for the grand prize drawing:

  • Register for the Birdathon; the registration fee is $10.
  • Identify 50 or more species in May, and let us know what they are by submitting an eBird trip report for the month
  • Raise or contribute $50 or more. Your $10 Birdathon registration fee will be counted toward the $50. Remember, every dollar you raise or contribute goes directly to protecting Connecticut’s birds.

The grand prize winner will receive a print of a Ross’s Goose study donated by the artist,  Mark Szantyr. Ross’s Goose is a rarity in Connecticut and always attracts the interest of the birding world.

The print, shown to the left, is number 2 of 10. It is 11 inches by 8.5 inches, and comes unframed. Across the bottom, the artists has written: “Ross’s Goose 17 January 2016 Broad Brook Mill Pond Hartford Co. M. Szantyr ’16”
