With over 835 acres of diverse habitats supporting over 100 species of birds, Deer Pond Farm is perfect for looking and listening for a wide variety of birds, while collecting data for the Connecticut Bird Atlas project. Each walk has a different theme and though we cannot guarantee you’ll see the themed bird during the walk, we will provide information on the species and show their preferred habitat as well as nesting boxes we have installed . Craig will review the Atlas Breeding Protocol, discuss the breeding codes and give technical support for entering data and for navigation. Please come with your questions. Anyone involved or interested in this project, not just registered volunteers, is invited. Note that the material will be specific to the Bird Atlas and may not appeal to those mainly looking to improve their birding skills. Any interested person may submit data during the three-year survey, not just registered volunteers. If you're unfamiliar with the project, click here and here to learn about it.
