    We are going to attempt to find 20 species of warblers in one day. We’ll be travelling to numerous locations. This is our 9th year doing this program. Last year we found 21 species! Register at 860-928-4948.

    Join Miley Bull, senior director of science and conservation for the Connecticut Audubon Society, during the peak of spring bird migration!

    With over 835 acres of diverse habitats supporting over 100 species of birds, Deer Pond Farm is perfect for looking and listening for a wide variety of birds, while collecting data for the Connecticut Bird Atlas project. Each walk has a different theme and though we cannot guarantee you’ll see the themed bird during the walk, we will provide information on the species and show their preferred habitat as well as nesting boxes we have installed . All levels of birders are welcome.

After a quick snack, we will head out on the trails to explore and search for animal tracks and sign.  The afternoons will be filled with fresh air, exercise and fun. Wildlife lessons will be quietly inserted along the way.  We will go outside, so warm winter clothing and boots are a must. Fee: $60 for the 6-day session.

    Our magnificent owl ambassadors show off their adaptation for night hunting.  Participants will learn about their unique physical and behavioral adaptations, their habitats, diets, calls and tips on how to spot them in the wild. $10 for non-members and $5 for members.  Pre-registration is required.     10 a.m.

    All Connecticut Bird Atlas Volunteers, and anyone else who wants to submit data for the Bird Atlas, are invited to attend this training session led by Volunteer Coordinator Craig Repasz.

    Craig will review the Atlas Breeding Protocol, discuss the breeding codes and give technical support for entering data and for navigation. Please come with your questions.

    Anyone involved or interested in this project, not just registered volunteers, is invited. Note that the material will be specific to the Bird Atlas and may not appeal to those mainly looking to improve their birding skills.

    Any interested person may submit data during the three-year survey, not just registered volunteers. If you're unfamiliar with the project, click here and  here to learn about it.

    Admission is free, but please click here to reserve your seat. Donations to support the Connecticut Audubon Society are welcome.
