Birds in Winter: Surviving the Most Challenging Season
December 10th, 7pm
Author Roger Pasquier will present his new book outlining the challenges birds face in the harshest season. Birds in Winter is the first book devoted to the ecology and behavior of birds during the coldest season, and it’s a must-read for any birder interested in better understanding how our feathered friends survive the winter months. The book explores how winter affects birds’ lives all through the year, and investigates how climate change has created conservation challenges for them. Birds in Winter is illustrated in black and white by Margaret La Farge.
Roger Pasquier, a lifelong birder, is currently an associate in the Department of Ornithology at the American Museum of Natural History. During his notable career he has worked with the International Council for Bird Conservation, the Environmental Defense Fund, World Wildlife Fund, and the National Audubon Society. He has written many books on the subject of birds, including one that combines his interest in both birds and art, Masterpieces of Bird Art: 700 Years of Ornithological Illustration.
