Connecticut’s reptiles are charismatic species that are cherished and beloved, though sometimes  they are poorly understood. After getting acquainted with the characteristics and habitats of Connecticut’s 28 species of turtles, lizard & snakes, conservation biologist Jim Arrigoni will highlight interesting and unusual aspects of their ecology and how such information can be put to good use to benefit their conservation.

May 3 - Week 3 will explore conservation and management issues that are important to ensuring a secure future for reptiles in Connecticut, and will conclude with recommendations that YOU can follow to benefit these often under-appreciated animals, whether you are a landowner or land manager, or simply a concerned citizen.

Some of our most expert aerialists, flycatchers make a living catching insects in flight. Every spring and summer these charismatic birds make their way into and through Connecticut, providing some of the most sought-after bird species in the state. In this three-week series teacher naturalist Joe Attwater will go over why birders are so crazy about these birds and which ones to expect here in Connecticut.

Week 1: In week one we will discuss the adaptations, breeding and nesting behaviors, and migration of flycatcher species, as well as some general ID tips and tricks.
